  • Immunotherapy (desensitisation) to inhalant allergens
We offer two types of sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT): ALK and Oralvac, each tailored to your child’s age, allergen sensitivities, and practical needs.

ALK produce three licensed dispersible tablets that treat grass pollen (Grazax), birch pollen (Itulizax), and house dust mite allergy (Acarizax). These tablets are suitable from age 5, and are taken daily all year round.

Oralvac products are unlicensed liquid drop formulations that has been used safely for over 20 years in specialist centres. They are suitable from age 2 and offers a broader allergen range, including the usual allergens (grass pollen, birch pollen, house dust mite), but also other tree pollens (plane tree, olive (covers ash) tree, weed pollens (Mugwort), animal dander (cat, dog, horse dander), and mould allergens (Alternaria). Oralvac is taken either year-round for perennial allergens, or for 7–8 months a year for seasonal allergens.

Both options are provided as a three-year package of care, which includes:

    – The full course of SLIT medication
    – Home delivery of the treatment
    – All SLIT initiation appointments
    – Reviews if allergic symptoms arise due to the SLIT medication
    – A formal effectiveness review in Year 2 to reduce other medications (e.g. asthma inhalers, intranasal steroids and antihistamines)

This ensures your child’s progress is monitored and supported throughout their immunotherapy journey.

Cost per allergen (package of care):

ALK perennial and seasonal allergens:

Year 1: £2,386.33
Year 2: £1,976.33
Year 3: £1,696.33

Year 3: £1,437.50

Oralvac – seasonal allergens (grass and/or tree pollen):

The build-up phase includes 6-14 monthly visits depending on your child’s specific allergies. Each visit is charged at £500 per visit for one OIT food, £550 per visit for two OIT foods and £600 per visit for 3-4 OIT foods.
